Snow Day Boredom Busters

Writer: Ashley DirnbergerAshley Dirnberger

Weekends are a great time to get out of the house and burn some energy, but in the Winter months, it can be too cold! Here are some fun crafts and activities to keep everyone entertained at home:

  • Balloon Tennis: Make paddles out of paper plates and popsicle sticks and see how long you can keep the balloons in the air.

  • Salt Painting: Make a design on paper with glue and then sprinkle salt on the top- this gives the picture a cool 3-D effect when dry!

  • Window Drawing: Have dry erase markers laying around? Draw on the windows with the markers and have an easy clean up! This works on picture frames too!

  • Frozen Hot Chocolate: Hot chocolate is a great way to stay warm when it's cold outside, but many kids don't like the hot temperature. Make frozen hot chocolates by blending milk, ice and hot cocoa mix in the blender. Let your child top their drink with whipped cream and sprinkles!

  • Build a Fort: A classic snow day idea- Fort Building! There are so many ways to build forts, and they are a great way to stay extra warm! Add some glow sticks for a fun lighting effect!

  • Indoor Picnic: Place all of your kiddo's favorites out on a blanket (or in your fort) and enjoy a fun indoor picnic lunch together!

  • Dance Party: Blast your favorite tunes and dance the day away!

  • Shadow Shapes: Get a flashlight and make fun shadows with your hands or other objects.

  • Obstacle Course: Make an obstacle course out of things around the house like pillows, stuffed animals, cups and yarn. Use the yarn to wrap around furniture and have your little one crawl through. They can also hop and jump over pillows and weave in and out of cups.

  • Scavenger Hunt: Make a themed scavenger hunt for your little one to find different objects around the house.
